The SBA Loan Process

The SBA Loan Process

We do things a little differently here at Central Bank & Trust. We don’t try to be all things to all people, all across the country.  Instead, we have a highly experienced team right here in Colorado, dedicated to delivering an exceptional SBA business loan borrowing experience to small businesses, which is why we have become one of the top local SBA lenders in the state.

Most small business owners have never been through the process of obtaining a business loan, and we understand that.  At CB&T, we strive to provide clear and complete information, and to be as transparent as possible with our customers.

Here is what you can expect during the SBA Loan Process with Central Bank & Trust:

1. Connect

One of our dedicated SBA lending specialists will connect with you to discuss long-term business goals and current challenges, in order to create a tailored loan package.  As a part of this, our specialist will request various financial information and application forms from you.

2. Credit Underwriting

Once we have that information collected, we turn it over to our SBA loan underwriter.  They will confirm we have all the necessary documents and information and begin their analysis to ensure the information you provided aligns with our credit philosophy.  Once approved, we will issue you a formal written loan commitment letter.

3. Closing

Once you have signed and returned the loan commitment letter, your file is given to an SBA loan documentation specialist (also known as a Loan Closer).  They prepare a final checklist, begin drafting the loan documents, and work with you to reach a closing date.

4. Servicing

Once your loan closes, you are assigned an SBA portfolio specialist. This will be your primary point of contact for any questions or requests you may have about the continued management of your SBA loan.

Small Business Administration

SBA (Small Business Administration) Loans are often associated with high-risk businesses and processes entrenched with bureaucratic red tape. With today’s SBA program, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. With authorization to operate under the SBA’s Preferred Lending Program (PLP), Central Bank & Trust has the authority to approve, process, and close the loan on the SBA’s behalf. This results in a much more streamlined and competitive loan process.

Most small businesses are eligible for SBA Financing, and it’s the product of choice thanks to flexible and advantageous terms. However, working with an experienced SBA lender like those with Central Bank & Trust is critical for a smooth process. Even though the program has made great strides in becoming more user-friendly, the lender’s process and experience are what truly differentiates an exceptional client experience from one that is muddied by questions and concerns.
